Mixing business and pleasure in Australia

Finding the right hotel to stay in will be no problem in Australia. A wide range - from luxury to basic - beckons the visitor.

The Sydney Inter Continental Hotel is not only close to most of the city's major landmarks - the Sydney Harbor, the Opera House and the Royal Botanical Gardens - it a landmark itself, incorporating the city's historic Treasury Building.

The five star hotel, situated in the heart of Sydney's Central Business District, is a glamorous address that has hosted such celebrities as Bill Clinton, Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster - but it is also well known as the preferred accommodation for savvy business visitors.

The hotel provides business travellers with all the facilities to make their stay convenient, pleasant, and memorable. A newly renovated business center on the second floor incorporates two broadcast and videoconferencing facilities.

Other facilities include a state-of-the-art health center on the 31st floor with its own pool. The hotel also has a beauty salon and massage parlor. There is no need to leave the hotel to have an excellent meal, even though it is located close to some of Sydney's best restaurants in the Rocks and Circular Quay areas.

The Inter Continental has three uniquely different restaurants. On the first floor, you can casually drop in for a beer and a plate of freshly cooked pasta. Café Opera is highly recommended if you want to indulge in breakfast, lunch or dinner buffets. Finally, you can enjoy one of Sydney's most impressive views as well as elegant dining from the Thirty First Floor restaurant.

Excellent business facilities coupled with high-quality service are also common denominators to hotels within the Accor group. The largest and fastest growing hotel group in the Asia Pacific region, Accor has 201 hotels in 17 countries with hotels in all styles, locations and price ranges.

From Sofitel, designed for the luxury and executive business traveller, to Novotel and All Seasons for efficient business class accommodations, to Ibis and Mercure for comfort and simplicity, to Formule 1 for the budget traveller - Accor has a range suited for everyone.

"One thing that differentiates us from any of our competitors is that we have a lot to offer," says managing director Michael Issenber, responsible for Accor Australia, New Zealand, South Pacific and Japan. "We are in the time-share business, we have casinos, we have cruise ships, and we develop, build and manage our own hotels. It is the overall dynamism of the organization that sets us apart from our competitors."
