Building bridges between man and machine

The push of a button and the spoken word remain analog constants in the increasingly high-tech digital world in which we live. Austria Micro Systems focuses on bridging man's analog world with the digital world of computers.Today, it is recognized as a specialist in analog to digital conversion within the semiconductor manufacturing industry.

Headquartered in Schloss Premstatten, Austria Micro Systems develops and manufactures application specific integrated circuits (ASICs). With 20 years of experience in chip fabrication, the company has become one of Europe's market leaders in mixed analog-digital ASICs. The company provides solutions for complex applications to three focus segments: the communication, industrial and automotive markets.

Recently appointed CEO John Heugle explains: "Austria Micro Systems is quite broadly based and has invested significantly in the area of semiconductors. Our specialty is in mixed signal, analog-digital conversion designs. We enable our customers to design more attractive products than they were able to in the past."

Since being established in 1981, the company has experienced considerable growth. By 1990, Austria Micro Systems had become one of the 25 fastest growing electronic companies in Europe. Today it has sales offices and design centres throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

With such a strong presence worldwide, the company is firmly positioned in the global semiconductor market - determined to build and maintain long-standing partnerships with clients and suppliers.

"We bring a particular skill set to the companies we work with," says Heugle. "The integration of electronic devices in Asia can be improved, and we feel we can bring an enormous advantage to the customers we are going to be working with in the future. Our job now is to get that message across."
