The eastern European countries of Poland, the Czech Republic, Ukraine and the Baltic states of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are continual adapting to the ways of modern business. By penetrating these growing markets more than a decade ago, Minolta Austria gained significant market share in the region. It is now focusing on the domestic market with astonishing results.
Established 25 years ago, Minolta Austria has earned a reputation for first-class customer service, high quality products and technical expertise. "Austrian society is quite modern in general and people are very accepting of new technology," says Johannes Bischof, managing director of Minolta Austria. "Photography is very popular here and people are interested in the digital side of things, so we are seeing huge growth in this area." Indeed, the company's market share in digital camera equipment has grown significantly from 1 to10 percent in just a year. While recognized world-wide as a quality camera manufacturer, the company's business machines account for 70 percent of sales in Austria. With a market share of more than 30 percent in the color printer segment, Bischoff is justifiably proud of Minolta Austria's success. "Running costs are the driving factor in this industry and Minolta is the leader in lowering color printing costs," he says. "The next generation of printers launched in autumn of this year will show this once more." With a view on future of Minolta Austria, Bischof has a clear focus on where he wants to take the company: "In Austria, Minolta is seen as a serious company with good products and a great brand. The technology is state-of-the-art. Combined with the service we provide, I believe we can achieve our aim of increasing our market share and becoming number one."
