In line with its six-month presidency of the 15-member European Union, Greece will hold a European conference on the environment in Athens on March 14. Heading the participants will be Greek Development Minister Akis Tsohatzopoulos, Environment, Town Planning and Public Works Minister Vasso Papandreou, and EU commissioner for employment and social affairs Anna Diamantopoulo. The conference, dubbed Sustainable Development - Environment and Local Communities, is organized by Brussels-based Eurometaus and Euromines, the EU's officially recognized organizations representing the metal and mining sectors.
