Deepening close ties

Ontario and Japan have much to offer to each other. Steadily increasing two-way trade and investment have brought our two cultures closer together. This global trade creates wealth for Ontario. And for Japan too.

It means great new jobs for our people, a rising standard of living, and an economy that is vibrant, competive, and poised to meet all the challenges of the 21st century.

Ontario is proud of its status as the economic engine of Canada and one of the world’s greatest traders.

Our high international profile is tribute to the hard work and diversity of our people. They come from every country, speak every language, respect every religion, and understand every market.

We can work and trade together – in any language. That is good because our priority is expanded trade ties with the rest of the world.

Dalton McGuinty, premier of Ontario

In particular, we want to build on the already healthy trading relationship between Ontario and Japan to further benefit both our people.

The forecast for Ontario’s economy is strong. And the outlook for greater links between ourselves and Japan is equally sunny.

I hope to some day experience your hospitality and culture in my official capacity as the Premier of Ontario.

And you can be sure that I will welcome your officials who visit here with open arms.

Trade and investment have made our relationship closer. May true friendship deepen it even further.
