Imagining the digital future

Imaging Solutions -- part of the Photo-Me Group that has strategically placed its automatic photo vending machines in subway stations and street corners the world over -- is now focused on designing, building, and supporting the most reliable high-end large volume digital imaging equipment for photo labs.

More than half of Imaging Solutions’ 72-person staff is dedicated to research and development (R&D). Its “Cyra” line of high-tech printers, scanners, software and integrated systems has been enthusiastically received by key account customers in Europe, the US and Japan. In Japan, such clients include Fuji and Kodak. Maintaining the trust and confidence of these customers is central to Rainer Bauer’s efforts as CEO of Imaging Solutions.

With over 20 years in the business, Bauer has responded to the market’s challenges and opportunities with a strong vision for the rapidly growing digital imaging market, as well as through basic business fundamentals.

Rainer Bauer, chief executive officer of Imaging Solutions

“The increasing demand for digital cameras and printing will continue to grow, and the industry needs to bring printing solutions to the end user,” he comments. “As mobile phone cameras improve image quality, along with the use of a wider bandwidth by carriers, people will be able to send and order pictures through their mobile phones 24 hours a day. Printing these pictures is an upcoming high growth business opportunity.”

The company’s continuous on-going product improvements, lean organization, and good customer service have created a solid foundation for steady growth. “I want to keep the pressure on our organization to perfect our product line over the next two to three years, while keeping an eye out for new market developments,” says Baurer.

As a result, Imaging Solutions’ Cyra line is technically years ahead of the competition. Using robust digital mirror device technology from Texas Instruments, it can actually reduce customer maintenance costs by up to $80,000 a year.
