Shirtmaker to the world’s finest stores Throughout the world, the fashion industry continues to evolve at a breathtaking pace. One key component is textiles, which continues to be a dominant export commodity in Thailand. Subject to ever changing trends, the textile industry’s key players face increasing competition.
Outside Japan, Thailand is the center of operations for Yamaki in Asia. The company has an impressive international client base composed of some of the largest and most famous retailers in the world including France’s Galerie Lafayette, Spain’s El Corte Ingles, and Japan’s Mitsukoshi, Hankyu and Isetan. Thai Yamaki aims to build further on its hard earned reputation for quality and creativity. Yuetsu believes that the company’s strength lies in the capabilities of its 700 Thai employees, a large number of whom have been sent to Japan for training. He is proud of the fact that this has resulted in the company’s continued drive for technology and knowledge transfer. “When the Asian crisis hit in June 1997, we were adversely affected because we rely completely on the export market,” recalls Yuetsu. “I transformed the factory production line here to cater to our department store clients. Today, Thai Yamaki continues to be an important contributor to the Yamaki group.”
