'Yes and please' lending a helping hand
As Japanese foreign direct investment continues to increase in Thailand, more and more companies are setting up manufacturing sites in the country’s business-friendly industrial estates. Many of these companies utilize the services of Umemura Corporation, a materials handling firm focused on developing and distributing products that minimize manpower and enhance cost-efficient physical distribution systems.
With an enigmatic motto “Yes and Please,” Umemura Corporation caters to its customers’ every need. Its founder and president, Akihiro Umemura, explains: “When I arrived in Thailand in 1992, factories still did not have many systems needed to handle materials resourcefully. Due to this, we saw the need to introduce products such as forklifts, conveyors, storage equipment, tent houses and other hardware.”
“What sets us apart is our continuous willingness to accommodate to very specific requirements from our clients,” he continues, explaining the reasoning behind the motto. “If a customer asks me to produce something special for him, I find a way to get the job done. I simply answer: ‘Yes and please’. With local knowhow, experience, and a strong diversified product line, the company is geared towards being a one-stop solutions provider for manufacturers.”

Today, with well over 1,000 Japanese companies already in Thailand, Umemura Corporation has positioned itself to increase its service capacity to meet ever-changing and rising demands.
“We are constantly advising Japanese manufacturers here, as the different sectors within the economy continue to expand,” he explains. “Thailand is a very lucrative market, and at the same time a wonderful country to live in. I encourage foreign companies to consider this home.”
